About the Role:

Responsible for providing diagnostic and treatment services to individuals and groups, clinical consultation to staff, consultation and education to community groups, and participation in program development.

 

Location: 3010 Grand Ave, Waukegan, IL

Hours: 40 hours a week

  • Tuesday (8am-8pm)
  • Wednesday (8am-5pm)
  • Thursday (8am-8pm)
  • Friday (8am-5pm)

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

 

Skills and Experience

  • Performs initial evaluations and assessments of potential clients regarding their appropriateness for participation in the program.
  • Provides direct services to clients including individual and group treatment.
  • Conducts psychological assessments when appropriate.
  • Conducts crisis intervention/evaluation/referral to persons who present themselves at the program.
  • Focuses on client empowerment in providing treatment, seeking to assist clients to build on strengths in addressing treatment needs.
  • Facilitates with clients and collaborates with the treatment team to develop, review and update treatment goals and referrals both internally and externally.
  • Provides clinical consultation for Behavioral Health staff, including assisting with or supervising psychological testing and evaluations.
  • Provides clinical consultation to other staff members and supervision of staff and students, as assigned.
  • Responds to inquiries, gives appropriate information and referrals, and documents, if necessary.
  • Is involved in quality improvement activities on an ongoing basis.
  • Organizes and participates in treatment-related clinical conferences and staffing’s on assigned clients.
  • Provides education and direction to clients, family members and/or significant others.
  • Takes responsibility for training in and documenting clinical chart requirements to meet program and state standards.
  • Acquires and utilizes knowledge of LCHD/CHC database and word processing software and other equipment commensurate with position.
  • Meets minimum productivity expectations.
  • Maintains an awareness of and professional involvement/collaboration with community resources
  • Fitness Restoration: Performs fitness restoration services to court-ordered clients already found Unfit to Stand Trial, including:
  1. Review of Fitness evaluation & supporting materials to assess appropriateness for LCHD OPMH level of care
  2. Provide direct restoration counseling services to appropriate adults & write reports to court. Coordinate/consult with treating psychiatrist as appropriate.
  3. Coordinate with CABS program regarding adolescent referrals. Educate and provide consultation to CABS staff providing direct restoration services to adolescent client, including participating in occasional joint sessions to assess progress and determination of whether client has attained fitness (or determine inability to attain fitness). Psychologist writes reports to court based on consultation with CABS staff and direct observation in joint sessions.

 

Education, Qualifications, and Certification:

  • Requires Doctorate degree in psychology, with at least one year of experience in chemical dependency/behavioral health treatment
  • Experience with court referred fitness restoration
  • Must be licensed by Illinois Department of Professional Regulation as a Clinical Psychologist.
